This is a tool that will help unlock Excel files that got locked out because of forgotten passwords.
Passwords help protect data from being viewed by others. So the tendency is to create complex passwords that cannot be easily guessed by others. Long password, a mix of small case and upper case letters as well as special characters are used to create complex passwords that are difficult to break. However, that creates a problem when you forget such a password. One may try whatever they remember of the passwords and keep trying. However that is such a hit and miss kind of strategy. This tool adopts two strategies to look for the right kind of passwords. One is the brute force method. In this approach all possible character combinations are tried out to find the password. The size of the password allowed and all the types of characters are tried.
The second approach is the dictionary approach. This, if it works, can cut down on the time needed to search a password. The dictionary within the application contains a lot of possible, commonly used, passwords. The tool will try all of these one by one. The tradeoff between the two methods is that, the brute force method will take a lot of time on an average but has a very high probability of success. Whereas, the second method is quicker but does not guarantee success. The dictionary method lets you add your own guess words too. You can specify the minimum and the maximum number of characters to be tried. All this is done through a simple interface. This is a very good product. If you are looking for a similar solution, this is a good candidate for a trial in your exact set up.
